NewsRoundtable discusses ethnic nationalism in Ethiopia
Addis Weg’s round table discussion on ethnic nationalism in Ethiopia was held at the Prime Minister’s office today in the presence of scholars represented from various universities.
In the discussion that saw the presentation of a research paper by the scholars it was mentioned that ethnic nationalism was the driving force for current extremism and conflict in Ethiopia.
Identity, language, religion, ethnic nationalism and national identity should not be a reason for their division and role in nation-building needs to be improved, said the participants.
Further discussion underlines the need to find political solutions for ethnic nationalism as well as prioritizing agendas that foster community unity.
